Determination of fossils and minerals

The Geosciences Collection offers help to amateurs interested in sciences with determining fossils as well as recent bivalves and snails. Furthermore, minerals and rocks are classified by the collection team, if necessary with the professional competence of further scientists of the Faculty of Geosciences of the University of Bremen. Among the determination naturally also further questions about the material will be answered, e.g. about the age and the geographical distribution of fossils or to the mineral content and the history of the rock genesis. Additionally, the evaluation of findings includes the provision of certificates of the value of geoscientific materials is possible after previous arrangement. One of the bases for the information is the computer data base and the comprehensive library of the Geosciences Collection.

Dates: The opportunity for determination is usually given on each second Thursday of each month after 7 p.m. in the Geosciences Collection (for variations see calendar), as a part of the Geoscientific Working-Group
